University offices: Vacancies

Applications are invited for the following University offices:

Computer Officer in the University Computing Service

Computer Officer, Grade I, in the Computing Service to take up appointment as soon as possible. The successful candidate will work as a Senior IT Consultant in the Institution Liaison Division which assists University Departments and Colleges in formulating IT policy and strategies. Candidates, qualified at least to first degree level, should have broad experience of IT including networking, systems management, and user support on a range of systems, which should include Windows 95/NT, Macintosh OS, and Unix. Also required are excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain technical issues to people at all levels and often with non-technical backgrounds. Familiarity and understanding of the organization and structure of the University and the Colleges would be an advantage, as would some knowledge of the funding mechanisms. The appointment will be for three years, with the possibility of reappointment for periods not exceeding five years at a time or, when appropriate, to the retiring age.

The pensionable scale of stipends for a Computer Officer, Grade I, is £18,494 a year, rising by twelve annual increments to £29,875.

Administrative Officer in the Estate Management and Building Service

Administrative Officer, Grade I, to take up appointment as soon as possible. The person appointed will be responsible to the Assistant Director (Administration) for a range of activities including personnel administration and management of the office support services. Applicants must have several years' relevant experience at a managerial level and be prepared to accept a high degree of responsibility. The appointment will be for three years, with the possibility of reappointment for periods not exceeding five years at a time. An Administrative Officer who has reached the maximum of the scale of stipends may be reappointed to the retiring age.

The pensionable scale of stipends for an Administrative Officer, Grade I, is £21,016 a year, rising by five annual increments to £25,552.
