Oriel College, Oxford

The College invites applications for the following posts:

Fixed-term Lecturership in Philosophy and Official Fellowship

Open to graduates, men or women, this is a two-year post, with effect from 1 October 1998 until 30 September 2000, with the possibility of renewal for up to a maximum of three years. The successful candidate will also hold a College Fellowship for this period. The duties include up to twelve hours' tutorial teaching a week, pursuit of original research, and participation in the administrative work of the College.

Fixed-term Lecturership in Economics and Official Fellowship

Open to graduates, men or women, this is a two-year post, with effect from 1 October 1998 until 30 September 2000, with the possibility of renewal for one further year. The successful candidate will also hold a College Fellowship for this period. The duties include up to twelve hours' tutorial teaching a week, pursuit of original research, and participation in the administrative work of the College.

Stipendiary Lecturership in English Literature

This is a one-year post, from 1 October 1998. The Lecturer will be in overall charge of teaching in English and in the English sides of the joint schools of English and Modern Languages, and Classics and English. He or she will be required to teach twelve hours a week across the range of English Literature in the period 1500 to the present day (including the main post-1500 period papers in Mods and Schools). There is no age limit for applications. The stipend offered is on the scale of £14,500 to £16,500 a year (based on the national scale for university lecturers).
