Preachers before the University, 1998-99: Notice

The following persons have been appointed in the manner prescribed by Ordinance to preach before the University during the academical year 1998-99:
Michaelmas Term, 1998
18 October The Revd Canon A. M. Allchin, of Christ Church, Director of the St Theosevia Centre for Christian Spirituality, Oxford.
 1 November Professor Sir David Williams Q.C., D.L., Hon. LL.D., Fellow of Emmanuel College; Honorary Fellow and formerly President of Wolfson College; Vice-Chancellor Emeritus; Rouse Ball Professor of English Law Emeritus; Professor of Law (1996) (The Lady Margaret's Preacher, Commemoration of Benefactors).
Lent Term, 1999
31 January Professor R. P. Gordon, Fellow of St Catharine's College; Regius Professor of Hebrew; Honorary Keeper of the Taylor-Schechter (Genizah) Collection.
28 February Dr L. J. P. Woodhead, of Emmanuel and St Edmund's Colleges; Lecturer in Religious Studies in the University of Lancaster (Hulsean Sermon).
Easter Term, 1999
 2 May The Rt Revd Dr P. D. Smith, of the University of Exeter and Angelicum University, Rome; Bishop of East Anglia.
16 May Dr D. Preman Niles, General Secretary of the Council for World Mission (Ramsden Sermon).

University Sermons are delivered in Great St Mary's Church at 11.15 a.m. on the Sundays stated.

 The Preacher at the Commemoration of John Mere, in St Bene't's Church at 11.45 a.m. on Tuesday, 20 April 1999, will be the Rt Revd and Rt Hon Lord Runcie, M.C., P.C., Hon. D.D., Honorary Fellow of Brasenose and Merton Colleges, Oxford, and of Trinity Hall; Honorary Assistant Bishop of St Alban's; and High Steward of the University of Cambridge.
