TANNER LECTURES 1997-98

The Tanner Lectures for 1997-98 will be given by Professor Stephen Toulmin, of the University of Southern California. The title of the series is The Idol of Stability.

Lecture details are:

Monday, 9 February 1998, at 5 p.m. A Physics that never was.
Tuesday, 10 February 1998, at 4 p.m. Economics: from theodicy to chaos.
at 5.45 p.m. Situated understanding.

The Lectures will be given in the Lady Mitchell Hall, Sidgwick Site.

 On Wednesday, 11 February 1998, a Discussion Seminar will be held in the Robinson College Auditorium, chaired by Professor Nicholas Lash. There will be two sessions: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.; and 2.30 p.m. - 4 p.m. Respondents will include Mr Geoffrey Hawthorn, Professor Mary Hesse, Professor Partha Dasgupta, Professor Nicholas Rengger, and Professor Matti Sintonen.

All are most warmly welcome to attend both the Lectures and the Seminar.
