Archaeological and Anthropological Tripos, 1998: Notice

The Faculty Board of Archaeology and Anthropology give notice that, with effect from the examination to be held in 1998, the form of the examination for Part I of the Archaeological and Anthropological Tripos will be changed as follows:

Paper 1.  The development of human society

 This paper will be divided into two sections. Candidates will be required to answer three questions, including at least one from each section.

 The Faculty Board further give notice that the form of the examination for Part IIA of the Archaeological and Anthropological Tripos (New Regulations), which will be held for the first time in 1998, will be as follows:

ARCHAEOLOGY

Papers A1-A3 and A7-A12

 These papers will not be divided into sections. In each paper candidates will be required to answer three questions.
BIOLOGICAL ANTHROPOLOGY

Paper B1.  Research methods in biological anthropology

 This paper will contain not less than seven and not more than ten questions. Question 1 will be an exercise in statistics. Candidates will be required to answer Question 1 and two others.

Paper B2.  Evolutionary anthropology

Paper B3.  Ecological anthropology

 These papers will not be divided into sections. Each paper will contain not less than eight and not more than ten questions, of which candidates will be required to answer three.
SOCIAL ANTHROPOLOGY

Papers S1-S3 and S7-S11

 These papers will not be divided into sections. In each paper candidates will be required to answer three questions.
