The Vice-Chancellor announces that he has received the following nomination in accordance with Statute A, IV, 2 for election to the Council in class (a), and that it has been certified to him that the candidate has consented to be nominated:
Sir Terence English, Master of St Catharine's College, nominated by the Master of Pembroke College and by the Master of Selwyn College.
No other candidate having been nominated, the Vice-Chancellor declares that Sir Terence English is elected to serve as a member of the Council for one year, with effect from 1 January 1998, and that the election announced previously (Reporter, p. 2) will not now take place.
