Applications are invited for the following University offices:

Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry

Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry in developmental psychiatry (learning disabilities), to take up appointment as soon as possible. Applicants should have completed a Registrar training in psychiatry, possess the M.R.C.Psych., and be of the standing required for higher training in learning disability psychiatry. The successful candidate will be required to undertake clinical duties, teaching, and research, and will hold an honorary Specialist Registrar contract with Lifespan Healthcare NHS Trust. The appointment will be for four years, with the possibility of reappointment for a further two years.

 The pensionable scale of stipends for a Clinical Lecturer is £21,230 a year, rising by ten annual increments to £36,725. The successful candidate will be eligible to receive a non-pensionable payment for extra clinical work.

University Lecturers or University Assistant Lecturers in the Faculty of Economics and Politics

Two University Lecturers or University Assistant Lecturers in the Faculty of Economics and Politics, to take up appointment on 1 October 1998 or as soon as possible thereafter. One will be in the field of applied microeconomics and the successful candidate will be expected to teach in the general area of this field. The other will be in economics and candidates may offer expertise in any area of economics. The successful candidates will be expected to provide some general economics teaching at the undergraduate level but will also have an opportunity to lecture on their particular fields of interest in the Faculty's graduate and undergraduate programmes.

 The appointments will be made at either University Lecturer or University Assistant Lecturer level, depending on the age and experience of the persons appointed, and will be for three years, with the possibility, for a University Lecturer, of reappointment to the retiring age or, for a University Assistant Lecturer, of reappointment for two years. The statutory limit of tenure of a University Assistant Lecturership is five years, but all holders of the office of University Assistant Lecturer are considered for possible appointment to the office of University Lecturer during the course of their tenure.

 The pensionable scales of stipends are:

University Lecturer: £19,371 a year, rising by eleven annual increments to £29,875.

There is no grade of Senior Lecturer.

University Assistant Lecturer: £16,045 a year, rising by six annual increments to £21,016.

Computer Officer in the Departments of Anatomy and Experimental Psychology

Computer Officer, Grade III or IV, in the Departments of Anatomy and Experimental Psychology to take up appointment on 1 January 1998 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is shared equally between the two Departments. The Departments seek a person to provide expert advice, guidance, and trouble-shooting on computer hardware, software, and networks in biological science teaching and research. Previous experience with both PCs and Macintosh computers, Novell Netware and UNIX would be an advantage. The successful candidate will have good communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of Departmental users. The appointment will be for five years in the first instance, with the possibility of reappointment for periods not exceeding five years at a time.

 The pensionable scales of stipends for Computer Officers are:

Grade III: £17,606 a year, rising by six annual increments to £22,785.
Grade IV: £15,159 a year, rising by three annual increments to £17,606.
