Marlowe Society

POETRY READINGS

Last year the Marlowe Society celebrated the re-opening of the Arts Theatre with a series of readings in Masters' Lodges from the works of poets of the respective colleges. The readings were much appreciated, and it is proposed to extend the series to run through this year and to include writers of prose. Readings will be held on the following Sundays at 9 p.m.:

19 October. Erasmus, scurrilous pamphleteers, Charles Tomlinson and others, in the President's Lodge, Queens' College.

2 November. This meeting will be held jointly with the last event in the Festival of Australian and Commonwealth Literature. The poets John Tranter, Michael Schmidt, and Imtiaz Dharker will read in the Club Room, Churchill College.

16 November. Herrick, literary lawyers and others, in the Master's Lodge, Trinity Hall.

30 November. James Shirley, Malcolm Lowry, Howard Brenton, and others, in the Master's Lodge, St Catharine's College.

Tickets (to include wine) costing £8 (£2.50 for students) are available at the door or from the Arts Cinema. The series is supported by the Judith E. Wilson Fund of the Faculty of English.
