Merton College, Oxford

RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN PURE MATHEMATICS

Applications are invited for this Fellowship, tenable for three years from 1 October 1998, for research in Pure Mathematics including its applications in Computing. Although this is primarily a Research Fellowship, the Fellow will be expected to give sixteen lectures a year at the Mathematical Institute and a limited amount of undergraduate teaching. The scale of stipends is from £16,927 on appointment at age twenty-eight to £18,494 at age thirty. In addition, the Fellow will hold a part-time consultancy at GCHQ, Cheltenham, for two months each summer, with a supplementary stipend of £3,000 a year. Funding will also be available from GCHQ, up to £2,000 a year, for travel expenses. Appointment is restricted to British Nationals (and is open to both men and women).
