LL.M. Examination, 1998: Notice

The Faculty Board of Law give notice (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 426) that in the LL.M. Examination, 1998, the form of examination for the following subjects will be:
(a) A written paper of three hours' duration:
Paper  1. The law of taxation.
Paper  2. International commercial litigation.
Paper  3. Conflict of laws.
Paper  4. The law of restitution.
Paper  5. International sales.
Paper  7. History of English civil and criminal law, 1154-1485.
Paper  10. Public law.
Paper  11. Jurisprudence.
Paper  13. Comparative law.
Paper  19. Private law and political theory.
Paper  23. Law of armed conflict, use of force, and peacekeeping.
Paper  24. Settlement of international disputes.
Paper  31. Commercial insurance law.
Paper  33. External relations law of the European Union.
Paper  34. Civil and social rights in the European Union.
Paper  35. European legal history.
(b) A written paper of two hours' duration together with the submission of an essay of not more than 7,000 words, including footnotes and appendices but excluding the bibliography:

 No papers prescribed for this form of examination.

(c) In the following subjects candidates have a free choice between the two forms of examination (a) and (b) above:
Paper  6. Environmental law and policy.
Paper  8. History of English civil and criminal law, 1485-1710.
Paper  9. Law and practice of civil liberties.
Paper  15. Corporate finance law.
Paper  16. Intellectual property.
Paper  17. Comparative criminal procedure.
Paper  20. History and theory of international law.
Paper  21. Law of peace.
Paper  22. International human rights law.
Paper  25. The European Union as a new legal order.
Paper  29. Family law and policy.
Paper  30. Philosophy of criminal law.
Paper  32. Modern legal history.

Candidates will not be permitted to offer both Paper 2, International commercial litigation, and Paper 3, Conflict of laws, in the LL.M. Examination, 1998.
