Standard agremeents
We use a set of model
agreements that contain the University's preferred terms for research
collaborations and studentships. If the sponsor is willing to accept the
relevant standard agreement without any changes and is able to return signed
copies without delay, then the agreement can be signed very quickly.
Different models deal
with different requirements:
- projects that receive external
funding of any kind may have a contract based on the University’s
Standard Collaboration Agreement
or a similar model agreement
- if students are involved in the
research, a studentship agreement is required. Typically, students need to be
able to include results in a dissertation. The University has a model
Studentship Agreement
- research requiring a standard
agreement for DTI LINK schemes, used widely between UK HEIs and industry, use a
LINK Agreement
- members of a consortium that
carries out an EC project need
an agreement that defines who does what and how the funding is to be
administered
- visiting researchers may need an agreement with the University to define their
rights to intellectual property and publication in any research they do at the
University and to protect the confidentiality of any information they acquire
while they are at the University
- subcontractors need an
agreement to define what work they will carry out and how they will be paid.
The University has a Standard Agreement for Subcontractors
