Summary

Professor Ekhard Salje (chairman of the Cambridge Environmental Initiative), Professor Alison Richard (Vice Chancellor), Professor Sir David King (Chief Scientific Advisor to HM Government) and Dr Aled Jones (Corporate Liaison Office) celebrate the launch of the Cambridge Environmental Initiative at the Horizon event.

Environmental Initiatives focussed on four themes: provision of sustainable energy, sustainable engineering, climate change and environmental planning, illustrating the variety of work carried out at Cambridge in this field.

Throughout the day and over dinner at St John's College, delegates haqd the opportunity to meet with industry leaders and the University's academic experts to debate and discuss ideas generated during the seminars. Delegates were addressed after dinner by Professor Sir David King, Chief Scientific Advisor to H. M. Government and Head of the Office of Science and Technology.

The audience
This event was open to global and 'Cambridge Phenomenon' companies alike. Previous Horizon events have included senior delegates from companies such as the BBC, Canon, IBM, Intel, Texas Instruments and Vodafone.
