Summary
During the day academic speakers addressed topics in four sessions:
- Nanoelectronics: novel materials and new applications
- Developing the interface between Biology and Electronics
- Opto-electronics: integrating the properties of light
- Organic electronics: future challenges for polymer electronics.
Delegates were addressed by, amongst others, Professor Bill Milne (Head of
Electrical Engineering at Cambridge), Professor Sir Richard Friend (Head of the
Optoelectronics Group and Founder of Cambridge Display Technologies) Professor
Christopher Dobson (Head of Cambridge's Biophysics Group) and Professor Colin
Humphreys (Goldsmiths Professor of Materials Science). The seminar provided a
unique opportunity to discuss these key technologies in parallel, providing an
overview of key developments in the field as a whole.
The event was chaired by Professor Malcolm Longair, Head of the Cavendish
Laboratory.
