Remote Access

MISD provides a number of methods for UAS users to access their email and the MISD environment whilst away.

Webmail

Webmail is available free to anyone with a standard web browser and internet connection. The website is https://webmail.admin.cam.ac.uk. This is a secure way to access your mail and offers many of the features that the desktop version of outlook provides. To increase security, please ensure you sign out once you are done.

Remote Access: Terminal Server

MISD provides remote access to the standard desktop environment. That allows users to access to your files, folders and the software on a standard ACN desktop build. Access is via https://remoteaccess.admin.cam.ac.uk.

MISD levy a charge £150 to set-up new users, this helps to support the service and ensures managers fully support an individual's use of this service.

Users should note that the client (their home) PC must have java installed (http://www.java.com/en/download/), should be patched up to date and be running up to date antivirus software.

Remote Access: Your PC

Some users have specialist software that is not available on the standard desktop network, such as AutoDesk. MISD can guide you through setting up access directly to your PC whilst you are out of the office. This will allow you to access all your files, folders and all applications installed on your desktop. Your PC must be turned on for this to work. You can log in via https://remoteaccess.admin.cam.ac.uk. In order to log in, a license must be purchased from MISD at £150 each. The computer you are connecting from must have java, and meet a certain minimum specification.
