Requesting New Software

MISD aim to accommodate all software requests where there is a valid business case for use. When requesting installation of new software, please provide the following:

  • Your PC's MISD tag
  • A confirmation from your line manager that it is required for your position and that any required payment will be met
  • The exact version of the software if known. For example, Quark produce several different products such as Quark XPress 8

Please ensure you are aware of what the software does. Generally it is not advisable to use online tools which require you to upload confidential information regarding the University, especially where there is little or no information available regarding the company's privacy policies. If you are in doubt as to the validity or security of a product, please contact the Service Desk.

There are a number of free packages available for users' use without installation. Please see the 'Available Software' section for current packages.
