Management Information Services Division

As a customer focused organisation our purpose is to provide business information services that underpin the critical management processes used across the collegiate University in research, teaching and administration.

We work strategically with Schools, Faculties, Departments, Colleges and other institutions, in planning and delivering the future Information Service requirements of the University, progressively improving business processes, capabilities and information solutions that meet business needs to provide:

MISD are moving

MISD will be moving from Greenwich House, Madingley Road to the Roger Needham Building on the West Cambridge site during September 2013. The move is a staff move only, the hardware that supports our systems including Finance, Student and HR will be remaining in its current locations so there will be no effect to services during this time.

There are a large number of staff to move and, although moves are planned to run over weekends, there may be some minor disruptions to Service desk availability on the Friday and Monday preceding and following the move. These will be individually monitored and customers will be kept informed of any expected delays to their call resolution.

Further details of exact move dates will be advised as soon as possible.

Business Services

IT – providing a secure managed office productivity tool set, based on Microsoft Windows and Office suite, integrated into a robust infrastructure providing users with reliable tools to meet the demands of modern office working. In addition providing a server infrastructure to support a varied portfolio of support applications.
Students – covering the student life cycle from on-line application processes (graduate, undergraduate and continuing education), the teaching and learning experience, through to graduation, continuing education and on-going Alumni relations.
Staff – providing services including on-line Recruitment, Staff Self-Service and Records Management, Payroll and Pension services, and staff benefits packages.
Collaboration and Learning – providing a range of online tools used by academics, students and administrators to support teaching, research, collaboration, communication and assessment.
Research – enabling the business processes associated with pre award grant applications and post award Financial Management, and Research Excellence Framework reporting.
Financial – providing a range of business applications that support running the financial operations of the University, including research grants, card payment systems, purchasing, and systems that ensure financial compliance with the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and other funding bodies.
Website Development – providing and enabling content management, website hosting and website development for the University.
University Card – providing University Cards to students and staff to enable them to gain access to buildings as required and to provide a consistent means of identification.
