What we can do for you
We aim to facilitate the business of the University through the provision of timely, professional and pragmatic advice, which is intended to enable members of the University to make decisions, deal with disputes or negotiate contracts in an informed and balanced manner.
The main roles of the Legal Services Office are:
- to provide legal advice and representation to the University, its Officers and institutions, including the University Offices, Schools, Faculties and Departments;
- to retain and supervise external legal services;
- to support the University administration in the development, application and review of University regulations, policies and procedures which involve legal considerations;
- to raise awareness of legal issues within the University community through internal training sessions, seminars and similar means;
- to develop standard form legal documentation wherever possible; and
- where appropriate, to represent the University's interests in public discussion of legislation and other legal issues affecting the HE sector generally and the University in particular.
