Grants for Travel to Iberia and Latin America

Santander Universities has generously provided a travel fund for students of the University who wish to travel to the Iberian Peninsula or Latin America for academic purposes. Grants of up to £250 (Iberian Peninsula) and £500 (Latin America) are offered.

All students pursuing academic study related to Iberia and Latin America, including all undergraduate students and MML undergraduates currently on their year abroad are eligible to apply for a travel grant. All applications should clearly define the way/s in which the award of funding would facilitate research towards an assessed project. There should be an element of fieldwork involved, broadly defined to include the study of primary sources or secondary material which are only (or principally) accessible in the location to which travel is proposed.

To apply, send your budget together with a covering letter explaining the nature, purpose and academic value of your trip by e-mail (sjrm2@cam.ac.uk) to the Administrator of the Centre of Latin American Studies, Mr Samuel Mather (please note that a hard copy cannot be accepted). Please also ask your supervisor or director of studies to send a brief (two or three sentence) statement of support and certification of the bona fide academic nature of the trip to the same e-mail address.

Please note the travel awards can not be used for attendance at language courses.

Applicants wishing to undertake academic projects in Chile may wish instead to consider applying for a larger grant under the Chile Projects scheme.

The funds available for 2011-12 have been allocated. Applications for the next round of travel funding (2012-13) will close on 1st March, 2013.
