The University of Cambridge is committed to supporting local businesses and a range of local discounts have been incorporated into the CAMbens Discount scheme. Full details can be found on the CAMbens Discounts website.
Eating out and shopping
Local Secrets vouchers
University staff can take advantage of Local Secrets eating out and shopping privileges. Many restaurants, pubs and other places in Cambridge and the local area participate in the scheme. Just click on the link above, print the vouchers and show them with your University card.
The Cambridge Chop Houses
Obtain a 10% discount (Monday to Friday only, up to 4 people per table) by showing your University card when asking for the bill at The Cambridge Chop House. This discount is available to students, fellows, and faculty members as well as employees. Call 01223 359506 for Kings Parade or 353110 for St Johns Chop House, Northampton Street if you wish to make a reservation.
Healthcare
BUPA
University employees are eligible to receive a discounted rate off the cost of one of BUPA's private medical schemes for individual members (BUPACare). The scheme offers a discount of 56% on normal premiums, although you must apply and pay the premiums directly to BUPA. Cover is available for spouses, civil partnership couples and families, as is the option to transfer membership from an existing BUPACare scheme. However, should you wish to transfer existing membership please be aware that, in order to take advantage of this discount, BUPA will almost certainly request a further medical history declaration from you. They will then reserve the right to exclude existing conditions from cover. Application packs are available from Deborah Hough in the Pensions Office on 01223 331202.
Health Shield
University employees can receive special rates with Health Shield, a not-for-profit mutual organisation that provides flexible health care cash plans. The scheme provides a wide range of benefits from dental treatment to hospital benefits with payments starting from £1.85 a week. It can be used on its own or as a complementary addition to private medical insurance. The scheme is available to all University employees. University employees to arrange their own cover, with deductions made through the payroll. For further information and application details, visit the Health Shield website. Cambridge Complementary Health Centre
On production of your University card, University employees can access a range of discounted treatments from the team of therapists at the Cambridge Complementary Health Centre (located in the city centre). Therapists offer an individual treatment rate and discount (up to 25%). Please note, not all therapists will offer this discount, please check at the time of booking. Fitness
Blue Fitness, Cambridge University Centre
Blue Fitness is available for all University members to join, including all current staff and students, College staff, alumni, retired University staff, visitors to the University and spouses of members. Fenner's Fitness Suite
Fenner's Fitness Studio, Gresham Road, has a range of equipment to suit all levels of fitness and strength. The facility is available to University staff at an annual membership of £70 (£100 for partners). Classes also available.
LivingWell Health Club
The LivingWell Health Club is based at the hotel Doubletree by Hilton Cambridge and offers staff a discounted joining fee of £25.00 and a monthly membership fee of £44 per month (for a minimum period of 6 months). Nuffield Health, Fitness and Wellbeing
Nuffield Health, Fitness and Wellbeing (not far from the Beehive Centre) offers University staff a wide variety of discounted 3 month and 12 month memberships with prices starting at £48 a month. Cycle Shop Discounts

Zipcar
Zipcar offers a range of self-service pay-as-you-go cars to University employees with a discounted joining fee.
Zipcar's range of self service cars and vans are available 24/7 for rent by the hour, day, week or month. With a large range of vehicles throughout Cambridge, Zipcar is a convenient, cost efficient, environmentally conscious alternative to owning your own car.
Hourly rates start from £5 or £49 for 24 hours, inclusive of fuel, insurance and tax.

Uni 4
The University part-funds the Uni 4 bus service, which runs from Madingley Road Park and Ride to Addenbrooke's Hospital Bus Station, via many University sites. Current members of the University can travel for a discounted fare of 60p per journey on the Uni 4 on presentation of their University Card.
Travel by Train
A 10% discount rate on the purchase of train season tickets and bulk buy tickets is now available for staff of the University of Cambridge.
Finance
Exclusive CAMbens Savings Account
The Cambridge Building Society in conjunction with the University of Cambridge and CAMbens has launched an instant access savings account.
Exclusive to employees of the University of Cambridge, the account can be opened in two city centre branches; St Andrews Street or Grafton Centre and managed in any of 18 branches, located in Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Hertfordshire.
Santander financial products
Santander has been serving the Cambridge University community since 2009. The bank provides tailored services to students and staff and launches products on regular basis that offer better conditions than those offered in other Santander branches.
A range of preferential mortgage rates are available exclusively to University staff. Santander are also currently offering an instant access ISA (Direct ISA saver) at 2%. For staff who have a 123 current account or 123 credit card a 2 year fixed rate ISA is also available at 3%. Both ISAs accept transfers in both internally and externally.
Almary Green
Almary Green has 4 advisors in the Cambridge area that offer advice on all aspects of financial planning including mortgages, pensions, divorce and investments. They offer a discount to University staff of £25 per hour off their hourly rates (please quote AGI-CAMB UNI).
Money Wise
Money Wise IFA Limited has provided financial advice in Cambridge and to University staff since 1962. They arrange initial meetings at no charge to establish whether or not they can help and to clarify the issues and to identify options. At the end of this meeting they will explain the actions that should be taken, and, if appropriate, the work that should be completed and any associated fees. Scudamore's Punting Company
Scudamore's offer discounted rates on self-hire of punts, canoes, rowboats and kayaks for University staff when they show their University Card. Premier Travel Agency
