Training and development
RDP provides many training and development opportunities to research staff. Information and booking details for these workshops and events can be found on the University's Training Booking System, categorised according to a number of 'themes' or 'programmes':
- All postdocs are eligible to book transferable skills courses offered by the Researcher Development Programme, provided that 'postdocs' appears under the heading 'Target Audience'. To check this, please refer to the specific course description.
- Anyone who teaches or who is involved in admissions interviewing may attend a relevant teaching and learning/admissions course listed under PPD 'Academic Practice' courses, regardless of whether the University or some other body is formally their employer.
- In addition, University staff are entitled to book any course offered by PPD, provided that they meet any additional eligibility criteria specified for individual courses.
Not sure whether you count as University staff?
This is not a question of who sponsors your research, but whether that payment is processed through the University: researchers on the University payroll are considered to be University staff. If you are not sure about your status, please check who issues your payslip and/or ask your departmental administrator for guidance. For further advice, please contact your relevant HR Adviser.
Please note that research staff who are not employed by the University may apply to be put on the waiting list for any RDP course. Where restrictions apply, priority will be given to University staff; if places remain available in the run-up to the course date, these will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
