Cambridge & Diversity Project

The Cambridge & Diversity Project celebrates and explores eight hundred years of history by discovering the stories of its current, and past, staff and students at the University. Profiled individuals include Alison Hennegan, Pav Akhtar and Sir Derek Jacobi.

Springboard and Navigator

The University provides two gender specific personal development programmes for staff and post-graduate students:

Both programmes are designed to encourage participants to fully identify opportunities for personal and professional development and to develop plans to realise them.

Navigator and Springboard may particularly appeal to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered staff who are interested in exploring their individual needs, developing confidence and assertiveness techniques, and engaging with ideas for self-empowerment.

Personal and Professional Development

Personal and Professional Development facilitates learning opportunities for all university staff enabling them to achieve their potential and contribute to the provision of excellent teaching and research in the University.

All in this together

We are looking for members of the Network who would like to take part in a working group looking at academic research into sexual orientation and gender identity. The purpose of the group is to identify individuals and topics that could form themes for possible Network and University events. If you are interested in participating, contact Kevin Coutinho at ksmc3@cam.ac.uk by 1st October 2011.

Cambridge past and present

The University has a rich history of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender staff and students. We would like to set up a group to develop profiles of these individuals who have contributed to the University's LGB&T community. If you are interested in participating, contact Kevin Coutinho at ksmc3@cam.ac.uk by 1st October 2011.

Become a trustee of the Encompass Network

Do you have a passion to promote equality and diversity—particularly around LBGT issues? Do you have an ability to work well with other people, and take responsibility for joint decision making? Do you have an interest in finance or strategic development? Well this could be the role for you.

Encompass Network is an umbrella organisation supporting and representing LGBT organisations in Cambridgeshire. Encompass Network's principal aim is to promote equality and diversity and eliminate discrimination for people of a minority sexual orientation or gender identification. We are involved in a number of activities: including the planning and coordination of LGBT History month in Cambridgeshire, coordinating the community area at the Pink Festival, and running a number of networking events throughout the year.

Your role will entail working with the Board to oversee the direction of Encompass Network, its staff and volunteers and the planning and review of the range of services it offers.

If you feel this could be the role for you, we would like to hear from you. Please contact Kate Durrant (tel. 01223 369508, email info@encompassnetwork.org.uk).
