Equality Assurance Assessments
Equality Assurance Assessments (EAAs) are the University's in-house mechanism for undertaking ‘equality analysis’ of policies or functions relevant to the Public Equality Duties (Equality Act 2010).
EAAs assist in identifying any unfair, adverse or disproportionate impact for all groups covered by equalities legislation, namely Age, Disability, Gender, Gender Reassignment, Pregnancy/Maternity, Religion or Belief, Race and Sexual Orientation.
The EAA process is facilitated by an EAA template in five Stages, and supported with a range of resources and tools. The EAA process is governed by the EAA Review Group, which is chaired by the University Equality Champion Dr Nick Bampos, and includes representation from the Diversity Networks. The EAA Review Group EAARG reports to the E&D Committee.
The Equality & Diversity Section monitors the process in order to enable the University to meet legislative reporting requirements. The E&D Section hosts the schedule of those EAAs due, underway or complete, including past Equality Impact Assessments. It also provides various forms of support to assist in the completion of EAAs.
Specific EAA guidance is being developed to support the EAA process. In the meantime, any queries should be directed to the Section by emailing eaa@admin.cam.ac.uk.
