Scholarships and awards for overseas students
CCT office: Extn. 38498
There are a number of Trusts which provide scholarships and bursaries to assist overseas students, both undergraduates and postgraduates, to come to Cambridge. The main ones are:
- The Gates Cambridge Trust
- The Cambridge Commonwealth Trust (CCT)
- The Cambridge Overseas Trust
- The Cambridge European Trust
These Trusts between them assist by full cost or part cost awards about 2300 students in residence. Awards are often made in collaboration with Colleges, firms, charities, and overseas governmental bodies. Names of students receiving awards are published each year in the Reporter.
For details of awards available and financial arrangements consult the CCT office, 1 Trinity Lane, Cambridge.
The Cambridge European Trust awards Long Vacation Scholarships to students in the University who wish to undertake language courses, research or other academic work in Europe. Application Forms are obtained from Iris Hunter, Secretariat, the Old Schools. For further information on this, see the section on Student Mobility with other European Countries in the Tutor's Guide.

- Miss Sarah Woods: Extn. 32276 - sew2@admin.cam.ac.uk
Travel funds for students are available from a number of sources. Consult the Awards Number of the Reporter (which appears annually in November) under the headings of particular subjects and under the general heading or consult the Scholarships Clerk, Mr Hocknell.
The Foreign Travel Fund is available to assist resident members of the Senate who have attained the age of fifty years to travel abroad with a view to extending their knowledge in any branch of learning with which their teaching or research is concerned. Consult Miss Woods for details.
Vacation Study Grants
From 1 October 2004, Vacation Study Grants no longer exists as a method for colleges to claim money on behalf of their students for vacation study.
Responsibility for determining the funding of vacation study now rests with the Schools.
