Travel by Train

A 10% discount rate on the purchase of train season tickets and bulk buy tickets is now available for staff of the University of Cambridge.

The scheme has been negotiated by the Cambridgeshire Travel for Work Partnership for its members, including the University.

Details of the scheme are attached and a summary is set out below:

A discount rate of 10% will apply to season tickets purchased for travel for work between a selection of Greater Anglia or First Capital Connect stations (excluding London Kings Cross) to Cambridge, Ely, St Neots or Huntingdon stations.
Tickets are available from the Customer Service Centre (0845 600 7245; option 3, then Option 2); Cambridge, Ely, St Neots or Huntingdon Station ticket offices; and (for stations served by First Capital Connect) online (please see full information document below).
A 10% discount is also available on a 'bulk buy' ticket option from National Express East Anglia, for occasional travel to work by train. Twenty tickets can be purchased for use within a 3 month period. See full information document below for more details.
When purchasing a season ticket from Cambridge, Ely, St Neots or Huntingdon Station ticket offices it will be necessary to show your University card OR a letter on University-headed paper from your Department/Institution, confirming that you are a current employee of the University. You will need to ask to “purchase a monthly/quarterly/annual season ticket under the Cambridgeshire Green Travel Discount Scheme". See the document below for required information.
When purchasing a ticket from the Customer Service Centre by phone, you will need to provide your name and employee number. Ask to “purchase a monthly/quarterly/annual season ticket under the Cambridgeshire Green Travel Discount Scheme”.
