Office of External Affairs and Communications
Communications Forum 2011
Theme for 2011: Public Engagement, Outreach and Widening Participation
Date: Tuesday, 22 November
Venue: Clare College, Cambridge
The Office of External Affairs and Communications organises a Communications Forum in November each year for around 100 members of the University. 2011 will mark the 7th Communications Forum, and the focus this year was on public engagement, outreach and widening participation.
The purpose of the Forum is to provide an update on the activities of the Office of External Affairs and Communications and to encourage discussion and the exchange of ideas around a particular subject area. Invitations go to individuals from the various Departments, Schools, Colleges and other organisations within the University.
The format of the day is variable, but the Vice-Chancellor usually opens proceedings, which he did this year. Throughout the morning, a series of speakers make presentations and questions are welcomed. There may be a set topic for all break-out groups to discuss and respond to, or the groups may have separate subjects to consider. These feedback sessions are highly valued - the exchange of knowledge is at the heart of the event and interaction is a priority.
The 2011 event was again held at Clare College's Gillespie Centre. Our thanks to the team there for looking after us so well each year.
